INDICATIONS
Imdur (isosorbide mononitrate) is within a group of drugs called nitrates. It dilates (widens) blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow through them and simpler to the heart to pump.
INSTRUCTIONS
Take Imdur just as prescribed because of your doctor.
Take medicines with a minimum of 4 ounces of water or another liquid. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole.
If possible, attempt to rest or stay seated by using prescription drugs. Imdur may cause dizziness or fainting. Use Imdur regularly to avoid an angina attack.
Do not stop taking Imdur suddenly. Stopping suddenly might lead to a severe angina attack.
DOSAGE
The usual adult dose of Imdur is 30-60 mg orally daily. Follow a medical expert's dosing instructions meticulously.
STORAGE
Store this medicine at room temperature faraway from moisture, heat, and light-weight. Keep the bottle tightly closed it uses very little.
Call your doctor at once when you have a critical unwanted effect for example:
fast, slow, pounding, or uneven pulse rate;
feeling as if you might distribute;
trouble breathing, blue-colored skin, tired feeling; or
worsening angina pain.
Less serious Imdur side effects might include:
headache, mild dizziness;
warmth, redness, or tingling under your skin;
nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea;
pain or stiffness in joints or muscles;
hot flashes; or
dry mouth.
Do not use Imdur if you are taking sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio). A dangerous drug interaction could occur, leading to serious unwanted effects. You should not use Imdur in case you are allergic to isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, (Isordil, Dilatrate, Isochron), or nitroglycerin, or when you have early warning signs of cardiac arrest (chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling).
To ensure you can safely take Imdur, tell your medical professional in case you have any of these other difficulties:
congestive heart failure;
low blood pressure level; or
kidney disease.
Tell a medical expert about other medications you use, especially:
blood pressure medication;
dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45, Migranal) or ergotamine (Ergomar, Cafergot, and others);
an erection dysfunction medication such as tadalafil (Cialis) or vardenafil (Levitra);
a beta blocker such as atenolol (Tenormin, Tenoretic), carvedilol (Coreg), labetalol (Normodyne, Trandate), metoprolol (Dutoprol, Lopressor, Toprol), nadolol (Corgard), propranolol (Inderal, InnoPran), sotalol (Betapace), and others;
heart or blood pressure level medicine such as amlodipine (Norvasc, Caduet, Exforge, Lotrel, Tekamlo, Tribenzor, Twynsta, Amturnide), diltiazem (Cartia, Cardizem), nifedipine (Nifedical, Procardia), verapamil (Calan, Covera, Isoptin, Verelan), among others.
It just isn't known whether Imdur will harm an unborn baby. Tell your physician if you're pregnant or prefer to conceive while using this medication. It isn't known whether isosorbide mononitrate passes into breast milk or if it might harm a nursing baby. Do not use Imdur without telling your physician in case you are breast-feeding a baby.
